Who says it’s too expensive to plant natives?
Here’s another great story about Waikereru, this time from Pure Advantage, describing how we’ve used seed islands of fruit- and berry-bearing native trees along the foothills to restore the Waikereru Hills.
These plantings along our moist, fertile and accessible foothills provide food for the birds - especially the kereru - who then process the seeds, wrap them up in nitrogen pellets and transport them into steep, inaccessible hill country - and plant them for free!
